STRANGE SOUNDS

WILL NOT TURN ON

When your washing machine does not turn on, take a look to see if it is unplugged or if a circuit breaker flipped off. The issue could also be due to a broken latch, timer or thermal fuse. A washing machine that won’t agitate means the agitator cogs, coupler, drive belt or the transmission need repair or replacement.

DOESN’T SPIN

DOES NOT DRY

WILL NOT TURN ON OR TUMBLE

When your dryer will not turn on, you first will want to be positive the dryer is not unplugged and all of the circuit breakers are on. If the machine isn’t unplugged and still does not start or tumble, the heating element, high limit thermostat or cycling thermostat will likely have to be repaired or replaced.

WILL NOT SHUT OFF

The exact opposite problem is if the dryer will not turn off. The cause of this particular issue is usually either a broken timer or door switch.

TIMER DOES NOT ADVANCE

A dryer timer must advance in order to complete the cycle. If the timer does not advance, it could mean there is a broken cycling thermostat or timer motor.
